Gera location: Growth in logistics and mechanical engineering

What more could a city wish for than a good investment climate? If the conditions at the location are right, investments fall on fertile ground. Where new jobs are created, the city and the surrounding area also develop in the long term, not only economically, but also socially and culturally. Gera has been producing positive headlines in this regard for some time.

Latest Generation Amazon Fulfillment Center

Since the end of August 2021, the Amazon location in the Gera-Cretzschwitz industrial area has been in operation. Not only the latest technology and hundreds of transport robots with mobile shelves are used here. More than 1,000 employees have already been employed. In the future, around 2,000 people will work here.

Raben Group moves into large new building

Companies in the logistics industry feel at home in Gera. The already established Raben Trans European Germany GmbH, an international logistics company, has also grown in recent years. Four warehouse locations around Korbußen will be merged at the new location near the Globus market directly on the A4. The logistics service provider takes all its 110 employees with it. The branch should be ready for occupancy in July 2022. This will then offer around 50 percent more capacity than the previous locations. Via the connection to the A4 and A9 motorways, Raben Gera is integrated into a Europe-wide network of locations. Here, general cargo is temporarily stored and picked for further transport.

Horsch Maschinen excpands in Ronneburg

The investments in the surrounding area also contribute positively to the Gera location account, as can be seen, for example, in the expansion of Horsch Maschinen GmbH in nearby Ronneburg. Here, too, there are attractive job offers near the city. What is particularly interesting about Gera is the mix of the aforementioned medium-sized companies and large chain stores in various industries as well as the global player Amazon.
